Dear Parent of A. C. Jones High School,
The last six weeks at A. C. Jones High School the students were able to experience a "Trial-Time" where the students were allowed to wear stripes, slogans, T-Shirts with certain verbiage and pretty much any other fashion that they "sneaked" in. Well as teachers and administrators monitored this situation, "it got worse". We then looked at a couple of other areas, like the TAKS test results and general academic responsibilities, and even those showed a decrease in success.
The intent of any school is to keep students safe and focused on academics. Therefore it only makes sense to put restrictions on what can be worn to school. Some of the looks even became sloppy and did not show respect or self-confidence. We must also face the fact that these high school students are soon to be in the workforce, military, or post-secondary positions. Businesses don't want anyone to wear their pants down around their hips and shirts 4-times too big.
Therefore with these experiences, A. C. Jones High School will be returning to the regular dress code for 2008-09. We feel we must continue to instill pride and show the Beeville community that A. C. Jones will continue to produce dignified students year in and year out!
