The A.C. Jones High School Mighty Trojan Band was crowned champions of the 4-A division at the 21st annual Edna Cowboy Marching Festival on Saturday. Led by drum majors Nick Saenz and Kelsey Knowlton, the band marched and played its way to victory. Receiving the honor for being tops in 4-A was the percussion section. This competition was a warm up for the U.I.L contest that will be held in Alice in two weeks. Go Band and Go Trojans.

This notice includes Senior and Dual Credit students who were not on campus the first time the pictures were taken. Everyone must have a picture taken and that includes teachers also.

All students who are on reduced or free lunch and have not turned in a new application for this year will expire on October 6, 2008. No one will be allowed to charge, make sure you have money. If unsure you can come by the cafeteria and check.   Thank you
 
We have 6 students taking the SAT this Saturday Oct. 4th Please report to the Coastal Bend College by 7:45a.m. to The C building not the V building. And a photo ID.
 
 From Student Council: 1. Teachers- Please remember to have your 3rd period vote on the Homecoming King and Queen today. The ballots are in your boxes. After your class has voted, please send the ballots with a student to Ms. Stegemoller's room which is 328. Thank you.  2. Due to the lack of clothing to wrap the BT in, we will not be burning the BT at the annual Homecoming pep rally.

Do you need to take the TAKS Science Retake Test on October 23, 2008?

Then come to Breakfast Club Wednesday Morning October1, 2008 at 7:00am.

Breakfast will be served as we do labs to review the TAKS Objectives for the test.

If you ride a bus come to breakfast as soon as you get to school.

One final reminder students who attended last year passed the TAKS and graduated.

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team as they defeated Calhoun by the scores of 21 to 25, 26 to 24, 25 to 20, and 25 to 9. the Lady Trojans finish the first half of district play this Friday at Gregory-Portland.
 
Key Club: Key Club members, you need to turn in your dues by Wednesday. Dues are $15 and need to be turned into Chris Garza or Mrs. Holder. Also, Wednesday meeting will be in the Lecture Hall.

Student Council will have a mandatory meeting with Ms. Stegemoller in room 328 on Monday immediately after school. This meeting is mandatory for ALL members. We have a few items that need to be taken care of. If you have canned food, please take it to Ms. Stegemoller's room.

 Last year we had the opportunity to nominate 9 students for the Corpus Christi Caller Times Distinguished Scholar Awards. We are proud of those students for being nominated. in the past, we have been honored to have 2 or 3 students selected a award recipients; this year we are extremely proud to have 4 students selected as Caller Times Distinguished Scholars. They are:

Stephanie Rodriguez - in the General Academic category                                  

Matt Ortega - in the Career and Technology category

Audrey Jones - in the Science category

Eric Soza - in Sports        

We can look forward to reading more about these students and others from the South Texas area in the Corpus Christi Caller Times newspaper in a few weeks. Please join me in congratulating these fine students and A.C. Jones ambassadors!

Also our thanks to Tim Shane for singing the National Anthem at the game last Friday night. we will hear Tim sing again on Oct. 31 at the Beeville-Rockport game.

 
Kicker 106 and the surrounding schools Beeville ISD, Skidmore Tynan ISD, Pettus ISD, Pawnee ISD, is holding a food drive to help victims that were affected from Hurricane Ike. We are asking for donation of non-perishable food items to be brought to your school. we will be collecting the food items on Monday, Sept. 22, through Friday Sept. 26. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support.
 
Any student who is on a 3 year graduation plan and wants to graduate in May must have a parent permission form filled out and on file AND must register to take the Exit level TAKS in October. The permission form and the sign up for the October TAKS are both in the counselors' office. Both of these must be taken care of by Thursday, Sep. 25th
